Gravy train comes off the rails

    EasyBlog

    Dan Trent writes:

My trip to France to drive the new Nissan 370Z and Pixo reveals even the last bastion of journalistic privilege – namely the expenses paid press trip – is feeling the effects of the recession. Having taken my EasyJet flight to Paris and waited outside the terminal for 45 minutes in the vain hope a transfer bus to the hotel might turn up I couldn’t help reflect on the difference between this and the usual format of a charter flight from Farnborough and first-class treatment all the way.

This of course merits as much interest and sympathy as it deserves. Which is to say none whatsoever.

But motoring journos are nothing if not great whingers. And the amount of carping you get from hacks on ‘normal’ launches is sometimes embarrassing given the extravagance being lavished upon them by some carmakers so I dread to think how this is going to go down. Nissan says yesterday’s format is the way it’ll be running all its launches from now on. So we’d best get used to it.
